On waste recycling and economic development

Recycling means preserving natural resources through the reuse of waste materials and reducing energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and water consumption related to industrial production.

Waste management, and especially plastic bottles, is a major challenge for the entire planet and especially for the countries of the South which do not have sufficient infrastructure today to manage this challenge.

Several actors in the field of development cooperation have tried for decades to find solutions, but these solutions have often failed in terms of efficiency and sustainability. They have left a feeling of unfinished business in all that this sector represents as stakes for the preservation of our ecosystem.

"NAMé Recycling", which is a private company, works in close collaboration with the Cameroonian government, of which it has received a partnership mandate. This cooperation is effective through exchanges with the Ministry of Environment but also through cities and municipalities. This approach has the merit of being a public-private partnership (PPP) approach and is a real paradigm shift in the management of used plastic bottles waste.

In order to preserve and boost this partnership, "Namé Recycling" has set up a dynamic which aims not only to limit the damage to our environment, but also to be a reliable partner in the fight against unemployment.

For it should be noted that, in addition to ecological considerations, recycling requires an important workforce. It is therefore a real growth sector in terms of employment. Moreover because they are non-removable jobs. The impact in terms of employment is not only limited to the premises of the recycling factory. The impact extends to all collection activities by individual collectors, collectivities, companies and at the same time, it is working for a paradigm shift in the management of used plastic bottles.

Last but not least, waste recycling is a high potential growth industry. In Europe, the plastic recycling industry accounts for a 320 billion EUR turnover, 60.000 companies, creating approximately 1,45 million jobs by recycling over 6,6 million tons of plastic.

This is a distant dream, you will say, but with few means and a lot of will power, working together, we can save our planet by acting responsible acts. Having your plastic waste recycled is a first step to reach this dream !
